Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly Valentine's Day Visits Join the Penn Club as we celebrate Valentine's Day with senior citizens of Philadelphia.
On Saturday, February 13, the Penn Alumni Club of Philadelphia will be spending a morning with elderly members of the Philadelphia community through a partnership with Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly, an organization devoted to relieving isolation and loneliness among the elderly. Most of the people targeted often lack a social network of family and friends or have few opportunities to develop social relationships. They need friendship and companionship. Spending just a short time with them could make a big difference in their lives. Volunteers will meet in the morning and split into pairs to visit residents at a building in Center City. Volunteers will be provided with a small Valentine's Day gift to bring to our "old friends." Time: 10:45 AM - 12:00 PM *Please note: the deadline to register is Monday, February 1, 2010 in order to coordinate visits with the elderly residents. The event is open to Penn Alumni only.
