The Penn Club of Philadelphia is looking for Penn students making an impact in Philadelphia. The Club is awarding a cash prize of $1,000 to recognize a student who is Engaging Locally. There is a second-place prize of $500.
The award is open to seniors or graduates students in the last year of their program.
The student must have demonstrated a commitment to making significant social impact in Philadelphia with academic and/or extracurricular activities.
The student should anticipate remaining in the Philadelphia region after graduation.
Local engagement is a key component of the Penn Compact. Engagement could include improving public education, improving public health, improving quality of life, economic development, or any other activity which makes an impact in the Philadelphia region. A degree from Penn is more than just a piece of paper, it stands for a set of principles and commitments. The members of the Penn Alumni Club of Philadelphia are seeking to recognize and reward a graduating student who is living those principles.
First and Second Place winners will be selected from a pool of finalists. The selection committee includes prominent members of the Penn community: members of the faculty, administration and alumni. More information on the selection committee members will be available soon.
Thank you to everyone who submitted an application! All applications are currently under review.
Finalists will be announced on April 15 and the Award will be given on Ivy Day.
