Since 2008 the Philadelphia Brewing Company has emerged as one of the leading breweries in a city that takes its beer almost as seriously as its cheesesteaks. A purveyor of such suds as Kenzinger, Row House Red, and Walt Wit, their brews have found their way into the hearts and livers of Philadelphians everywhere.
After touring the 125 year old brewery we'll sample the freshest beer the city has to offer and enjoy assorted appetizers. We hope to see you there!
History:
The brewery buildings were originally erected as part of the Weisbrod & Hess Oriental Brewing Company in 1885. While restoring the buildings the owners of Philadelphia Brewing Company took care to preserve the original brewery markings which remained from Weisbrod and Hess. You can see a tile representation of the brewery's original peacock logo along with the words "Weisbrod and Hess" and "Bottling Department" on the Amber and Hagert corner of our brewery.
The current owners purchased the buildings in 2001 and the first round of renovations began. After about six months of hard work the beer began to flow in the historic brewery once again - for the first time since the late 1930's. A second round of renovations, along with extensive cleaning and repairs, was required after they sold their former brand name in 2007 and reemerged as Philadelphia Brewing Company in 2008. Our brewery buildings provide Philadelphia Brewing Co. with ample space to expand brewing capacity long into the future.
